Effortless. The only way to describe this joint. This was the first track me and Joanna ever did together 3 years ago. We knew that we would be lifelong pals after this. Every sound other than the drums is bass or obviously trumpet. I have one bass that I tune up a 5th and that’s how I get those higher parts. The snare with the flanger delay is my production tribute to Prince and Susan Rogers. I did this song in pieces so that’s why it doesn’t really have a form and feels really free. Some of the harmonies in this song are so crazy that I ended up having to play them in on a keyboard so Joanna could read the music. I lost the hard drive that the original session for this song was on, but luckily I had an unmastered bounce of it that I could use for the album.
