about

One night I woke up and this song was stuck in my head and I couldn’t figure out from where, so I sang it into my phone so I could figure out what song it was the next day. Turns out I was just dream writing I guess. This is happened before but not like this song. The first verse and guitar part were just stuck in my head like a song I’ve already heard. Sometimes you just have to let your soul speak and music will come out of it. This song is 100% inspired by D’angelo, even the band members. We were all channeling his album Voodoo with every note of this song. This also my only solo, and this was the only take I did of a solo cuz I knew it would get way too complicated if I tried anymore than that. I used my whammy that’s how it gets shifted up so much. I loved how the spacey radioheadish guitars fill up the chours. Another cool thing about this song is that theres no Melodyne on it. If you don’t know what that is, Melodyne is a software that you can put vocal tracks into and edit the pitch very precicely, which is the industry standard. Its not the T-Pain sound. Not every note Joanna sings on this album goes through it, but when you have up to 80 vocal tracks at a time at some points, you have to do some correcting or else youll be sitting around for days getting the perfect take 80 times. So lets all give the beautiful and talented Joanna Teters a round of applause for singing this song the way she did because it sounds super top notch.
