about

This is another song I wrote before we recorded the track. I had no idea that the chorus would be so insanely high up in Joanna's range, but she is amazing and pulled it off. The bridge is one of the only spots on the album where there is no drum beat. JP and Ian are just freely improvising the whole time, which gives the bridge that floating feeling. If you listen really closely, there is a dog bark sample in the last chorus.

lyrics

I wanna walk down the riverbed, put my feet in the ice cold water

Wanna lay my head into the grass, dream of where we're gonna go

And when I make it there, another house becomes a home to you

Tell me what would I do?

Every day we see and grow,

Remember what we used to know

Things were easier back then

What happened to the way we're living?

We used to be so young, we were so secure with our

routines and our big dreams

We could break our own falls, now we can't anymore

Here we are now, we've said our own vows

We've got nothing left, I've lost at this bet, oh

Shout out at the moon, I'm getting tired of waiting for truth

I'm drinkin' at noon, straight drinking to truth

And every time I fill my cup, I feel more like I'm not enough

I ain't playin' the fool, I'mma find myself a new melody soon

I'm a victim of youth, straight victim of youth

And now ya see how I'm all grown up

I understand the jokes in Breakfast Club

So long since I've felt whole, dreaming brings me close

Living long enough, feeling takes its toll

So long since I've felt whole, dreaming brings me close
