about

This was one of those, sit-down-and-ten-minutes-later-it's-written songs. I just had the feeling, wrote down these words, and went to sleep. I've wanted to do a duet with me on vocoder and Joanna singing for a while, and these lyrics and that production style fit together so well. I had her sing the melody in a few times and made the harmonies with Melodyne. All the ways you can manipulate a vocal are in this song: there's pitch shifting, Vocoder, sampling, and lots more going on.

lyrics

I work hard to get my life the way I want it to be,

and now I can't explain the way I feel when you're around me

Take a trip around the world, so many sights to be seen

All the wonders in the world couldn't replace what you used to mean

Set me free from this one way street

‘cause all I see is tail lights when I look into your eyes

Let me go before you ring my soul dry,

waiting for you to come around so we can tame our love

I’m captivated by the stars and how slowly they change

Our family names will come and go and all our memories will fade

Everything we've ever known, they'll watch it float away

It will pass them by in the blink of an eye, only they remain

Set me free from this one way street

‘cause all I see is tail lights when I look into your eyes

Let me go before you ring my soul dry,

waiting for you to come around so we can tame our love (2x)
